Board of Directors

The ESMV Literacy Network Board of Directors are volunteers who support increased awareness of literacy and opportunities for lifelong learning. This is a volunteer role that takes about 4 to 6 hours per month depending on position.

The footprint of the ESMV Literacy Network is quite large – from Porters Lake to Ecum Secum, and up to and including the Musquodoboit Valley. As such, our Board members come from a variety of the communities within our catchment area.

We meet every second month from September to June each year. The main role of the Board is to provide overall long-term direction to the ESMV Literacy Network. This is done via a governance role, and more specifically, through a strategic plan, policy, guidance, and oversight. The Board also ensures compliance with Government direction and funding guidelines.

Please do not hesitate to reach out for more information. Call Susan Burt at 613-798-3155.

ANSCLO

The Bigger Picture

ESMV Literacy is a Community Learning Organization. We are one of 32 CLOs in the province of Nova Scotia. Together we form the Association of Nova Scotia Community Learning Organizations, known as ANSCLO. We are a strong united voice for education and programs that support personal learning goals of adult learners. We are funded in part by the N.S. Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration.

ESMV Literacy serves the Eastern Shore and Musquodoboit Valley. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive learning experience for adults, who are working toward their personal learning goals. Our vision is that anyone wanting to improve their literacy skills, however that looks, can have the support they need to succeed. We believe that Literacy is the key to success and that learning happens everywhere.
